All are welcome to come to Pedals and Pipes on Sunday June 18, right after worship service, led by Suzanne Purtee.
The principal purpose of the demonstration is to explain basics about a pipe organ and how it functions. We will compare it to the piano; we will explore and demonstrate the pipe organ from basics of sound color (the different sounds the pipe organ emulates), pitch (the different pitches from stops); learn what the manuals and pedals are for and how they interact. Learn what “stops” are and other words unique to the organ. We will look at pipes and learn how a pipe produces sound. Attendees may bring a short piano piece if they have one to try out on the organ. If time, we will learn a little about the history of the pipe organ.
